Jedno od najdubljih i najli\u010dnijih \u010dula koje \u010dovjek posjeduje je upravo miris. Mo\u017ee biti dovoljna samo jedna nota parfema, miris ki\u0161e na asfaltu ili svje\u017eeg peciva da nas u trenutku vrati u neko doba na\u0161eg \u017eivota. Nau\u010dnici su dokazali da, za razliku od slike ili rije\u010di, miris ne prolazi prvo kroz racionalni dio mozga ve\u0107 direktno asocira na emocije i uspomene. Upravo iz tog razloga \u010desto ne mo\u017eemo da objasnimo za\u0161to nas ba\u0161 odre\u0111eni miris rastu\u017ei,u\u010dini sre\u0107nim, izazove sjetu ili probudi nostalgiju.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Science explains that the sense of smell is directly connected to the limbic system, the part of the brain that is responsible for emotions and memory. That’s why smells can leave a strong emotional mark, compared to all other senses. When we smell a scent for the first time, our brain associates it with people, places and all those feelings from that moment. Each subsequent encounter with the same scent can awaken the same mood in us, even after many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That’s why fragrances represent a real treasure trove of memories, in which childhood moments, dear people, travels, love and the feeling of the warmth of home remain preserved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was Marcel Proust who wrote about it in his book “In Search of Lost Time”, describing how the smell and taste of tea and cookies awakened all those long-forgotten childhood memories. In this way, he showed us how such a “simple” sense can have so much power to instantly take us back to the past and revive all those emotions that we thought had long since disappeared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The right choice of perfume can contribute to all of this, and then we can talk about the smell becoming a kind of non-verbal communication. When we add to that the association with a certain person, place or event, the perfume acquires a special value. After a certain time, we no longer perceive the smell as just a perfume, but as part of a person’s identity, that is, their personal signature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The use of fragrance throughout history was not only a part of personal care, it represented an important part of different cultures and traditions around the world. Just think of the smell of incense in churches and temples, the aromas of the most diverse spices in the markets and bazaars of the Middle East, all the way to the sumptuous floral notes that filled the courts of the European aristocracy. It is clear that fragrances have had a special place in people’s daily lives for centuries, and even today their role in society and the beauty industry is extremely large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The name “oriental” is used to describe rich, intense and exotic fragrance compositions. Classics, such as Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium perfume, introduced in 1977, played a major role in the popularization of oriental perfumes in the West. Its extremely rich and intense notes brought fragrances that exude warmth, sensuality and that exotic atmosphere of the East closer to the audience. After that, oriental perfumes became a symbol of elegance, luxury and striking character, and their popularity continues today thanks to deep, seductive compositions that leave a strong impression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
